Eating Disorder Panel of Experts
Life Size "Barbie" Displays

A panel of eating disorder specialists including, Kristi Shohet, MS, LCPC, CEDS, Rhonda O’Brien, MS, RD, CDE, CEDRD and Heather Dietz, PA-C, will provide information on eating disorders followed by a Q&A session.  The panel will also include a parent who will share her expertise on family challenges.

Barbie is a pervasive staple of American culture and, when built to life-size her proportions are: Height: 5’9”; Bust: 39”; Waist 18”; Hips 33”; shoe size 3.

Although Barbie models unrealistic beauty ideals, as young girls mature, societal pressures to achieve this impossible status can contribute to body dissatisfaction and drive for thinness.  The beauty industry reinforces these expectations through 1000’s of similar cultural messages that are significant risk factors in the development of an eating disorder.

We hope you will join us and learn how to recognize signs and symptoms of eating disorders and the importance of early intervention as a key factor in the recovery process.
